AMD breaks into pieces

AMD has been in financial troubles ever since it took over graphics chip company ATI with even rumours flying around that ATI's main competitor nVidia might take over the company.
However, today AMD announced its splitting up its R&D from its manufacturing department.

“This is the biggest announcement in our history,” said A.M.D.’s chief executive, Dirk Meyer. “This will make us a financially stronger company, both in the near term and in the long term, as a result of being out from the capital expense burden we have had to bear.”
AMD's manufacturing will now be done by a new company called "The Foundry Company" of which AMD owns 44%. The rest of the company shares belong to Advanced Technology Investment Company which is formed by the Abu Dhabi governmentIn other news:
