More details on co-op & MP Splinter Cell: Conviction
Posted on Thursday, 10 December 2009 by Speed, source: The Lost Gamer
Splinter Cell: Conviction no only contains a six hour co-op campaign, but also some standalone challenges when the game gets shipped next year.
The co-op mode includes a prologue to the main story which starts two months before the plot. Players will there take on the shoes of Daniel Sloan-Suarez (Archer) en Mikhail Loskov (Kestrel).
The campaign details how EMPs get stolen by factions within the Russian Intelligence that have crossed over and sell the EMPs to the Russian mob. That's what co-op designer Patrick Redding had to say:
In Hunter you need to clear the map from hostiles, Infiltration is a variation on that but you're not allowed to be detected. In Last Stand you need to protect an EMP against waves of enemies and in Face Off two players are put against each other in a map filled with adjustable enemies.
We're already looking forward to the many new modes in the game. Splinter Cell: Conviction is set for release February 23rd 2010 on X360 and PC.

“They don’t really like each other or trust each other,” said the game’s co-op designer, Patrick Redding. “But you’ll hear in their dialogue, moving through the missions, that their trust is slowly building. If Sam Fisher is our panther, then these two guys are like a couple of Velociraptors taking down the herd.
“You are going into this really seedy, gritty underbelly where we can put the whole graphical horsepower of our engine and the Xbox 360 to work giving you the lurid texture of this place.”
The challenge mades with the name Third Echelon Missions are interwoven in six different steps based on four levels from the co-op and two exclusive maps for that mode. At the moment already four modes have been announced: Hunter, Infiltration, Last Stand and Face Off.“You are going into this really seedy, gritty underbelly where we can put the whole graphical horsepower of our engine and the Xbox 360 to work giving you the lurid texture of this place.”
