Sony close to making money on PS3

Smaller console, smaller loss

No, Sony Entertainment is still losing money on every Playstation 3 sold, but they're getting closer to break-even.

Back in December, Sony was still losing $37 on each console they sold, but the Wall Street Journal is now reporting that that loss has since then decreased already to only $18 for each PS3.

It seems Sony's cost-cutting exercise is paying off:

"We think we've bottomed out and we can do fairly well going forward,"

If the trend continues, Sony may expect to actually earn a buck or two on every PS3 sold by 2012.
