This year's QuakeCon has only just kicked off and id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead and engine genius John Carmack are already talking about the 2010 edition.
The crowd was hoping for a big Doom 4 update this year but at the opening speech Hollenshead said that they'd have to wait another year. In return for that wait, the 2010 Doom 4 update will make us fall in love all over again with the franchise, or so they claim.
Carmack added that that for the next Doom they are using "the most tightly managed approach" stating that the continuing work on tech5 and Rage has allowed them to already have plenty of tools and technology prepared for Doom 4. This would speed up the development as they can dedicate most of their resources to the actual game rather than the software surrounding it.
