Jack Walters is an ex-cop turned Private Eye who's life was changed after an encounter with the Mythos. His burning desire to find out more about the dark secrets of the universe causes him to investigate only cases which he believes to have a Mythos connection. To this end, when he is asked to visit the town of Innsmouth, a little research uncovers rumours of strange creatures and unholy rituals, of the town's unexplained prosperity, and the recent disappearances of several people in the area. He takes the case, which initially requires him to find out what happened to a young grocery clerk - Walter Grey - whilst he was working at a grocery store in the town.

Whilst exploring the decaying fishing village of Innsmouth, Jack uncovers the town's secret history involving an unholy pact with the sea dwelling creatures known as Deep Ones.

In return for the right to breed with the people of the town, these ancient creatures provided large quantities of gold from their undersea city of Y'ha-nthlei as well as protection and increases in local fish populations. At the time this pact was made, Innsmouth was in economical decline, and the people were more than willing to pay the price to save what was once a thriving community. Their leader at the time and High Priest of the Esoteric Order of Dagon - a new religion set up to worship the 'sea gods' - was Captain Obed Marsh. He is now long since deceased, but his hybrid grandchildren run the town with a iron fist. True law no longer exists in Innsmouth - murders are commonplace in the name of the Order - with all true power lying with the Marsh family and its followers.

Over the years, Deep One genes have spread throughout the majority of the town, and of the few un-tainted humans left, few will talk to strangers. Those that do tell of unholy events that have taken place in the town's history - they talk of human sacrifice, the macabre 'Innsmouth Look' and its origins, as well as the sudden and unexplained boom in the area's fishing and gold refining industries. As Jack pieces together what information he has found, he begins to understand Innsmouth's terrible secret, and realises that he is already being hunted by The Order.

Call of Cthulhu will have realistic injuries to characters which will affect movements and mental abilities and players will have next to weapons also magic spells and special capabilities.

There will be six completely distinct stories, each with individual chapters, and a multiplayer chapter for team battles against chaos along with a multiplayer Deathmatch mode.

Last but not least, Call of Cthulhu is supposed to have realistic physics implementation for dynamic environmental response with the NDL NetImmerse 3D Engine and Havoc Physics Engine
