What looks like MOH:AA, plays like MOH:AA but in fact isn’t MOH:AA ? Indeed, it must be a game called ‘Call of Duty’ developed by people that worked on the original MOH:AA. There really isn’t very much to say about this one, it just basically is MOH:AA, not surprising if you know that the development team (Infinity Ward) consist out of 22 developers that worked on the original MOH:AA.

I had the chance to play Call of Duty for a little bit, and it took me like 0 seconds to get used to the controls. I could just dive in and play this game like it was another great MOH:AA expansion. It also looks almost (note the almost) exactly like it, and that means it sill runs on the good old modified Quake 3 engine. The game takes place in World War II (notice the similarity here), only now the player will be able to play with the 3 sides of the Allied forces: as a US soldier, a British trooper, or as Russian infantry. You’ll be able to experience the same campaign in three different ways, with a completely different point of view.

Call of Duty is expected this fall as a PC title. There will be several multiplayer gametypes, among them a few team-based gametypes they don’t want to talk about yet. But we can be sure we’ll have deathmatch and team-deathmatch as a standard option. Single-player will probably be the focus, and they promised the single-player campaign(s) to be longer than the one in MOH:AA. If you liked the Medal of Honor: Allied Assault single-player experience, chances are pretty big you’re gonna enjoy this title a lot, I know I will. Nothing much original, definitely nothing ground-breaking, but just another fun installment in the series of WWII fps games.

On a side note: there will be a lot of squad based missions in the game. You won’t be able to give orders to squad members (in fact most of the time one of them will be giving orders to you), but you will be able to shoot them. However, as was to be suspected this will have a negative impact on your character, and you’ll get something like penalty points for it. Apparently the reason for the ‘penalty’ is so the game would not get an M-rating (rated for Mature persons only). Which is good, I can understand why only mature people should be allowed to go on a rampage ;).
