DTM/TOCA Race Driver 3 (Pc)
As could be expected, Codemasters will be releasing a new version of their popular TOCA/DTM Race driver series, bringing the game to number 3.
Codemasters have been working on a successor to TOCA/DTM Racer 2 for over a year and they've been working very hard to make the new version better than anything we've seen before.
One of the main things to make everything as realistic as possible is the completely new engine that gives immense possibilities for damage effects. Players will be able to really drive their car to ruins, have an overheated radiato, blown up engine or tires, ... all shown in every gory detail. This will also make racing a lot more tactical. It's great that you can drive at extreme speeds and still remain on the track, but how are you going to stay in front of your opponents when you don't have any rubber on your wheels anymore ?
As stated, realism is very important in this newest TOCA/DTM Race Driver and to make sure the die-hard fans won't be disappointed, a brand new Pro-Career mode has been added. Here, the idea is to build a "real" career through the different types of racing with as ultimate goal the possibility to get a seat with the BMW Williams F1 team.
Of course, knowledge of how to tune your vehicle will come in handy in this pro career mode as even the smallest detail in your car setup may bring the difference between winning or loosing. Fuel consumption, rubber that gets worn out and even the weigth balance of your car are small things that may tip a race in your favor.
Of course, the pro career mode will not be satisfying for those that instantly want to drive with the fastest cars so for that the World Tour mode has been added. In this mode, you'll instantly be able to drive the most wicked cars while in between races, cut-scene movies will let you follow the storyline of DTM/TOCA series.
To make sure players will have more than enough challenges, 35 different racing disciplines are available including British GT (BGTC), Muscle Cars, V8 Supercars, DTM (including all season 2005 stats), Monster Trucks, Baja Motocross, Formula Palmer Audi, Historic Grand Prix, Touring Sports Cars, Formula 3, BMW WilliamsF1™ Team and also several special championships.
All these championships of course will follow the official real-life reglementations including flags, practice rounds, car setups, and warmup rounds.
The game is expected to be released this winter on PC, PS2 and XBox. We'll post more details as they become available.
