Forza 2 is still spinning in our 360, but in the meantime, we're very curious to see how Project Gotham Racing 4 is slowly developing. A while ago, we already had a preview that made clear the graphics of the game are really good and that revealed the fact you will be able to race with motorcycles. And what a coincidence, we were able to try the latter on the E3.

They gave us a circuit in Macau, where two motorcycles were racing against two cars. Unfortunately, in this demo we were only able to drive the motorcycles, so we can't say if racing with the cars is different. However, it did give us a chance to feel if putting motorcycles in a PGR is a good idea.

The track was soaked and it was raining cats and dogs. Impressive and very cosy was the sky, that gave us a unique feeling that we hadn't experienced before in Project Gotham Racing. The effect on the motorcycle was also clear: you had to be very careful while going faster because the wheels would slip immediately. The curves had to be taken a lot in advance and very sensible. Fortunately, the motorcycle can take a few crashes, something we tested extensively with our limited driving skills.

The driving behaviour of the motorcycle was easy to start with, and here it is, pretty difficult to control perfectly. We think veterans of the series will have a lot of new challenges with this addition. You are also able to get a ‘cockpit view’ while you drive the bike. This gives you a very dynamic and swinging view. Kudos with bikes looks just as fun, with points for doing wheelies, for drifting and for taking a perfect curve. Funny is the fact you can challenge drivers behind you, which will soon be a popular move in multiplayer.

We were not so impressed by the graphics as we were by the movies and screens, but this was probably because of the track or the demo itself. The sound on the other hand was very good, with lots of variation in the squeaking of the tires. A detail perhaps, but if you're a motorcycle freak and you have a great sound system, you will definitely appreciate it.

Our test session didn't take longer than fifteen minutes, however it gave us a chance to decide that the implementation of motorcycles in PGR4 looks like a good thing. We are still looking forward to more details, but for now it looks like this game will not only be a must-have for arcade car fans. You will also love it if you like to drive on only two wheels.
