Ghost Recon 3 (Pc)
As big lover of everything Tom Clancy, I was very interested in seeing the newest in the Ghost Recon series from Ubisoft.
A bit disappointed I saw that the makers are still in a very early stage of development and couldn't show me anything other than a pre-rendered movie. Disappointment which quickly changed when I saw the fantastic effects and the beautiful interface that will be implemented. The last bits of doubt withered away after my interview with the lead designer. It looks like Ghost Recon 3 will become a real topgame.
Graphically everything looks ok. Although we, as I said, only saw a pre-rendered movie, we did manage to get some info on the effects. The game will simulate very realistic grenade impacts and the player will get a blurry image and fall on the ground when being too close to such a hit.
On top of that, the game is being developed for next-gen consoles so I'm convinced we won't get disappointed on the graphical part.
Qua gameplay we can see some differences already. The singleplayer campaign will now be spread over three days and be held in Mexico City, anno 2015. This setting allows the makers to experiment with prototypes that the US army is currently developing. One of those is Integrated Warfare System, a hypermodern armor with lots of sensors and camera's that give information to the soldier.
On top of that, this system combined with a small eyepiece gets you in contact with the HQ and your other teammates. Ubisoft wants you, as squad leader, to have a bigger freedom and control. You'll be able to request precision bombardments and the map will be around 3600 square meter.
Onto the multiplayer mode then. Although Ubisoft couldn't (or wouldn't) say much, we did find out some details. The game will contain several modes, although we don't know which ones yet. Next to the urban environments from the singleplayer campaign, there will be a wide variety in different maps.
I for one am very much looking forward to the end result and can't wait until the game gets released at the end of 2005.
