In the first part you got entangled in the naste work of the Mafia through bad luck. You were a law-abiding citizen, working as a cab driver when a guy came running up to you and asked for a ride. Suddenly this became a hellish pursuit between two families and there was no way for you to get out. The game received multiple prizes at the time and is still worth checking out even now. The sequel promises to be even better. Of course.

This time you take on the role of Vito Scaletti, a man that was brought up in Sicily and as a little boy migrated to America together with his family. You dreamt of becoming a respected person at all cost and the Mafia seems to be the only way to achieve that goal along with the wealth that comes with that. Joe Barbaro is your best friend from the ghetto and can hardly be called a good guy. He likes getting into trouble, is often drunk and likes the better-looking females a bit too much.

As everyone you start at the bottom of the ladder and will have to work your way up. The story starts with small assignments like bank robberies, stealing cars, and more of that. You never get bored when being with the Mafia, not even as a smalltime crook. That way you quickly gain the trust of the guys above you and get to take on bigger and more important missions which allow you to make name in the world of gangsters.

2K Czech, the team behind the game, promises an impressive story. You'll be completely sucked in by the way you join the mafia and will clearly experience how difficult it is to get out.

Mafia 2 is built on the Illusion Engine which gives the possiblity to create a world of over 10 kilometers and that with incredibly beautiful surroundings and detailed dressed up interiors. The already released image material shows that everything will be created up to the smallest details. We already talked about the setting, but especially the facial expressions and the looks of the characters impress, amongst other things thanks to almost individual hairs.

To recreate the 40s from the 20th century all sorts of elements that were present in cities back then are being used. As the game progresses even the world will change and you'll see it evolve from the 40s to the 50s. A nice soundtrack with big names from that time is supposed to provide that little extra. Weather effects and a day- and night cycle are of course also necessary to recreate a good atmosphere and these have been taken into account. At times it will even be snowing, with resulting consequences. The tense car chases, face-to-face settlements and shootouts won't be getting any easier.

Whether Mafia 2 will be able to fulfil all expectations and honor the original game is still to be seen. In any case, things are looking promising at the moment and we can't wait to get our hands on it!
