Mage Knight Apocalypse (Pc)
Mage Knight Apocalypse is a new action orientated rpg developed and published by Namco. It's based on a miniatures game. The developers claim that the game will do beter than the miniatures ever did. We'll see...
In MK: Apocalypse you choose one out of five characters to begin the game. These characters differ in powers and your choice decides the course of the game. While you fight in about 25 level, you'll meet 4 other characters who will folow and help you where needed.
Developing the qualities of your characters doesn't happen in the way of a standard rpg. No giving away of points to various skills and qualities this time. If you use a specific technique alot, you'll develop this skill much faster, like in Oblivion. Freshening !
The skills are divided in some sort of tree. For instance, you need to have learned two previous skills to learn a certain new one, but the techniques rise in level too so you can personalise that also.
The control over the avatars runs smoothly. A simple mouse click is sufficient to move your character. If you keep the button pressed, the pointer follows you until you release the button. For those who prefer the keyboard, ZQSD is the alternative.
Potions and spells can be placed –like in every rpg nowadays– in the lower bar of the screen, to be easily accesible. The function keys can be linked to the inventory, but if they're going to be used, that's another question.
There has been promised that you'll be able to use your character to play co-op missions online.
Mage Knight Apocalypse will be released this spring in the US. Although a release for Europe hasn't been announced yet, we assume that the game will come to Europe too. We are very curious to see if this game has the potential to equal the success of for instance Guild Wars.
