All real RTS-fans surely have played Shogun... Well, Medieval is very much like Shogun and so much more.

In Medieval, you are a king, in the timezone of 1076-1453. You can choose between almost all the meaningfull countries of that time. Each country has its own units, buildings, environement, ... You can adjust the game to your wishes; if you like to play turn-based strategy, you can play it as the king himself and let the computer fight your battles for you. But if you like a great, real-time, epic battles, you can leave the kingdom in the capable hands of the computer and command the troops yourself at the front. As you make progress and conquer more and more land, you can build the buildings and units of the kingdom(s) you've conquered and use those units in battle. Which will be necessary because different opponents require different tactics on different land. Also, if a good king dies, the people will morn on his behalf and be rather carefull in trusting the new king. If you taxes are to high or if there isn't enough food, the people will complain and possibly turn against you and start a revolution. But as said above, you CAN leave that stuff to the computer so that you only have to lead your army to victory. You can also do both of course.

The units that survive your massacres will gain experience points and thus will attack more efficient and effective. You can have an impressive army of no less then 25 600 units on your screen. Add a number of 6 people in multiplayer, and you have an impressive amount of people fighting for some land. Besides the campaign mode, you can be the warlord in numerous historical battles. But in multiplayer you won't be able to rule your kingdom. You can "only" command your army, but I think we all realise that implementing such a feature into an already impressive and beautifull game would hardly be used. I think most of the people will be storming castles and fighting in the wastelands all the time anyway.

Add to thos already impressive list a system requirement of a PII 350 and you'll come to realise that this is a must-have! You'll just have to wait untill next friday when it'll hit the shelves in Europe.
