Prince of Persia 3 (Xbox)
And yet another preview straight from London where Ubisoft held it's pre-E3 event. This time it's up to Ubisoft's hit-in-the-making, Prince of Persia 3. Before I begin my preview I wish to clarify that this preview was a very early build of the game. Undoubtetly the game will undergo some serious changes. Nonetheless the game looked very promising.
The fans of the series will surely be disappointed when I tell you this is the final title in the trilogy. But Ubisoft has told me the prince will go out with a blast. It will not be a mere sequel but a revolution. Brave words from this renowned developer/publisher. Let's hope they can make it happen.
Very few details were revealed about the storyline. We managed to get confirmation on a few rumours, namely, the game picks up after Warrior Within and the game will introduce a new playable character, the Dark Prince.
For the first time, the game will contain some situations in which stealth is advised, however, the player will be able to choose for the good old-fashioned approach. Ubisoft keeps slapping us with new features because another new one is the more intensive use of outside locations which will definitely be a welcome change from the claustrofobic interiors that played a large role in the previous versions of the game.
And once again the game will have a few new stunning moves and time powers. One of the most spectacular ones put on display was when our prince pushed off of the wall, leaped over an abyss and graciously landed onto the neck of a guard before slicing his throat with his sword. Also, the prince will carry with him a long chain with which he can kill his opponents in even more creative ways. Guaranteed fun.
I already mentioned the prince's alterego, the Dark Prince. We were not able to pick loose alot of information, but we do know that you will be able to freely decide for yourself when you want to switch between characters. However, some puzzles will require the unique features of the Dark Prince while others will need the skills of our Persian Prince.
There are still a lot of question marks concerning the graphics. I mentioned earlier that the game was still in a very early phase, but still it looked amazingly good already. However Ubisoft assured us that the graphics would undergo a serious touch-up even though it looked very nice.
An instant hit or the clever salestalk of a slick marketeer? Who can tell... Fact remains that the entire Fragland-crew is anxiously looking forward to this newest Ubisofttitle.
