Project Gotham Racing 4 (Xbox 360)
Aside from Forza Motorsport you've got Project Gotham Racing as a really important and good racing series for Xbox 360. Forza 2 has already been released and is impossible to keep out of my console, now it's Bizarre Creations' PGR4's turn to build up the hype.
One of the most obvious new facts of this fourth part is that this time you can also take a motorbike for a spin. About 25% of the 130 vehicles will only have 2 wheels, like a Ducati or a Honda. The selection of the cars also went a little different: the developers wanted to select real icons out of the car industry. You'll not only find the inevitable sportscars of today, but also timeless classics.
You can drive all those vehicles in 10 locations, including 5 we know from other games (New York, Tokyo, London, Las Vegas and the Nürburgring) and 5 new ones: Macau, Shanghai, St-Petersburg, Quebec and the Michelin test circuit. You'll be able to play each track under several dynamically changing weatherconditions: rain, snowfall, mist, ... Prepare for some disasters!
You can paint your car and provide it of stickers, but the developers themselves say they don't want to go into that as much as in Forza 2. That way you can design your own teamcolors for you and your buddies to wear while driving races, both online and offline. During the singleplayercampaign fans will wear your colors as you win more matches and thus become more popular.
When we take a look at the graphics this game promises once again to be supreme, with environments that look astonishing. The cockpitview is back and looks at least as detailed as in the previous part. This makes the photo-mode more than welcome to take shots and replays, after which you can share them with your friends and Xbox Live via the PGR On Demand-system. You will also be able to use the internet to watch these.
Online racing still supports a maximum of 8 racers.
Of course the Kudos-system is still there, wether you like it or not, but luckily the A.I. will be improved a little bit so that even the other racers will try to gain more Kudos than necessary.
Above all that you can now score stylepoints by working together closely with your teammates, you can, for example, block other contestants to help your allies. This is one of the new features we think are promising, together with the fantastic graphics and the dynamic weathersystem. Wether the bikes will be a nice addition or not remains the question, but it will definitely bring some innovation.
