Those who have followed the game news of the last few years possibly think spontaneously of 40,000 when they hear the name Warhammer. Well, today that has changed. Warhammer: Mark of Chaos is a new real-time strategy game which is in development at Black Hole Entertainment.

The game contains 4 races (Empire, High Elves, Skaven and Chaos) who are involved in a violent war. The armies consists of groups of units, who have all different looks. Units have another haircut, armor looks somewhat different and the animations are unit based instead of group based.

Moreover the games contains nice fighting physics. Two armies who rush towards each other won't mix up, but will bump into each other. Units with shields can form a defensive line to push enemy units back. Cavalery units can break through this line if they gather enough speed.

The game has heros and super warriors with unique powers, which can be improved by placing special items in their inventory. To reach higher levels a skill tree is provided, which focusses on combat, duel and command.

Two heros can invite each other to a duel. This fight to the death is 1-on-1, other units can't interfere. During a duel a hero can use the skills he has developed in his skill tree.

The siege battles should be new and innovating too. In those battle you or the enemy storm a fortress. Towers with ballistas and cannons can fire on incoming troops. Your own horses can attack the enemy siege weapons out of range of your defence.
