Resident Evil 6 gets free online service
Capcom has announced that in addition to three campaigns (four, including Ada Wong), Mercenaries mode and the new Agent Hunt mode, RE6 will also launch with an online service called Resident Evil.net. This free site will track all kinds of data pulled from your game – like proficiency with weapons, types of enemies killed or Mercenaries scores, to name a few – and allows you to compare it all against RE6 players around the world.
Next to that, Capcom will also schedule online events that reward all participants with extras like costumes that will appear in the game.
For example, let’s say one weekend the goal is to kill 10,000 zombies. Everyone who has an RE.net account and plays during that time period will receive RE.net points that can be redeemed on the site for a variety of goodies – chief among them new costumes that appear in the actual game.
Capcom is scheduled to stream a trailer with more information regarding the new service later this week at Gamescom.
