A classic that has been ported from the PSP to the PS2. This can hardly be any good but still this title surprised me. Before I continue; to make the game even more hilarious than it already is, play this Lemmings in Dutch.
So what does this game offer? First up there's the Lemmings concept. No aliens that need to be killed, no terrorists who's throat you need to cut in silence but comical men looking for a way out. Sound kinda 2D? Right. Sounds quite boring as well? On the contrary. With a whole arsenal of items, including parachutes, drilling machines, shuffles and so on, it's your duty to act as hand of God and aid your dear lemmings by having as little as possible die. All original Lemmings levels are still present with a ton of new worlds in which the Lemmings move from left to right, from top to bottom and so on direction exit or death.
So the gameplay is already pretty good and then you haven't reached the EyeToy part of the game yet. Here you need to use your entire body to offer the lemmings a safe passage and prevent them from reaching Lemming Heaven. Although the concept still has some beauty flaws I did have quite a good time and with a couple of friends it becomes a hilarious piece of twister. And with your girlfriend it's the ideal foreplay (that alone would justify a score of 98% for this game). Do make sure the room is well-lit as EyeToy doesn't like "cosy dusk".
Graphically it looks better than its PSP-clone without really shining anywhere. The worlds are fresh, colorful and happy and the controls very intuitive. Controlling the lemmings and at the same time peeking at the next obstacle isn't a problem if you know to use your thumbs.
After their disastrous Worms sequels, Team 17 has shown that they still know what gameplay is all about and lifts the replay value of Lemmings to the next level thanks to the addition of a user-friendly level editor. A classic that has gotten a good makeover and they may send some more like that our way.
