You can choose from 2 sides, the Heroes or the Villains. Both sides have 5 classes that look similar on both sides, still the Heroes are more defense oriented while the Villains like to go on the offensive. In the end there is something for each and every one of us. Would you like to be a player that does massive damage? No problem! Or are you rather someone that has some minions do the dirty work? Also not a single problem!

Another positive remark is the diversity between the available skills and the looks: Would you like to have ninjas as minions or rather mercenaries? Everything is possible, you can even specify where your powers come from (a mutation, a lab accident, the use of gadgets...). This makes sure that while the classes are in a general way the same, you still have your own playing style. On the department of outfits you won't come across someone real quick with the same cloths. If you know that you can choose from over a hundred clothing pieces and even specify the colors, you know that you'll be special.

Our heroes and villains also need a place to sleep and that's why Cryptic Studios has added bases in the game. A supergroup (guild/clan) can own one of these locations and expand its functionality. New gadgets, NPC's or just some extra decorations are some of the possibilities you'll have on a higher level.

The first thing you notice when entering the world is how lively it is. If you play as a hero, you will constantly see people getting beat up, mugged or simply see illegal transactions taking place. Because of this, you will get the necessary satisfication from helping them. As a villain, you'll be able to see snitches talking to the cops and gangs defending their territory. All of this happens without accepting any quests, which results in a pleasant and alternating environment.

Of course it would be ridiculous if the so called heroes and villains couldn't fight against each other. This happens in 4 gigantic PVP zones, where there is also enough content to play with. The villains, for example, have the missions to kidnap people or rob a bank, while the heroes need to stop this from taking place. Missions like these result in a nice combination of both PVE and PVP action.

About the graphics we can clearly say that they can't compete with the new games out there, but that doesn't mean they look horrible. While you can see that they're a bit aged, everything still looks pretty enough, especially the environment with the skyscrapers and destroyed districts. But let's be honest, graphics have never been the top priority of a MMORPG, it has always been the gameplay that's been number one and in that it succeeds completely.

On the department of sound everything is okay. While travelling the cities, you constantly hear the sounds of pedestrians, cars and airplanes. The sound effects of the skills and spells that you use are also decent. When you use an electric attack it will sound like something been electrocuted and a fire attack will sound like something been burned.

The main question is of course if it's still worth buying after all those years? On this i can give you a resolute answer: yes! Supergroups are being constantly created and they can always use some cannon fodder. Another benefit when buying this version are the extras. You will get a jetpack for all your characters, a teleport to a VIP location where you can hang out with the elite, the first 6 Top Cow comic books in PDF format, exclusive in-game suits and a map of Paragon City/Rogue Isles.
