Pierce Brosnan is almost ready for retirement. It's time to say goodbye to 007. The old casanova has to clear the way for a new youngblood. Common, admit it, it does work on your nerves when you see good ol' Bond kissing those hot, young girls. I mean, hello, the guy could be my father and here he's fooling around with girls that should be my girls! Your days of playing cool are over, Bond. It's everything or nothing, will he succeed one last time...or not?

Games based on movies often offer you cheap copies of a popular gamegenre. Their only purpose is that of making some more money. Bondgames have always been an exception to that rule. Year after year they manage to deliver considerably satisfying games. As with Nightfire, Everything or Nothing isn't linked to a movie, it has its own unique storyline. Well, the idea of one big villain threatening world peace by activating a giant, nuclear weapon isn't really original. Bondmovies have always been a chain of clichés, but nobody seems to mind. It's the way they are presented, that makes it so special. The over-the-top, yet effective gadgets, the fast sportscars equiped with numerous weaponry and of course the steamy, sexy and above all very easy ladies are all elements that contribute to the unique feel of the series. And of course, the game throws all the above mentioned ingredients in the blender making it a juicy cocktail!

Q (John Cleese) has really worked his ass off again as he delivers some highly effective and fun-to-play-with gadgets. Because of numerous gadgets I'm only going to tell you something about my favourite, namely the Q-Spider. This mechanical spider is capable of reaching secret places to gather some extra armor. It's also equiped with a kamikaze-option, making it explode with a touch of a button. Later in the game, you will be able to unlock new upgrades for your spider such as an invisibility mode. The cars, ranging from the Porsche Cayenne to a "torque-like" dakota bike, look incredibly beautiful and are equiped with long range missiles, guns and flamethrowers. The girls are played by: Heidi Klum (German supermodel), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie) and Mya (singer). This Trio de Janeiro is as easy as never before, falling rapidly for James' charmes.

With numerous gadgets and cars at hand, the levels should be really diverse. And believe me, you'll never have a dull moment. You'll find yourself shooting like a madman, jumping off cliffs and walking down an exploding building. So don't tell me Pierce is becoming an old chap. He's never been this active. Only downlet is the lineair aspect of the game and the fact that you'll return to a menu everytime you finish a mission. What on earth where these marketing lads thinking when they came up with the slogan: "the first bondgame that feels like a bondmovie". I myself can't think of a worse way to pull you out of a story. Before starting a mission it isn't really clear what your objective is. You just find it out by playing along and this can be frustrating. Take a stealthmission for instance, you have no clue that it's your objective to be as silent as possible, so what's your first reaction when you see a guard? Ofcourse, just fry the bastard with all the ammo you've got. Mission Failed, frustration succeeded! The missions are luckely not extremely hard so this little incident won't influence your gaming experience.

The only bad thing is the lasting appeal. It's like developers have a fear of "the eight-hour-line". "The what", you ask? The eight-hour-line is a growing illness in gamingland, it's the time it took you to finish a game. More and more games are suffering from this disease and James Bond has also been contaminated. Because I'm a real stats-addict I counted all the missiontimes and came to a shocking 219 minutes and 31 seconds. Mathfreaks, do your work, it's short, isn't it? Well yes, but don't forget that those 219 minutes where a real rollercoasterride. When you finish the game, you'll feel satisfied because of the diversity in levels. But, like it or not, this game belongs in the category: "Hire, don't buy".

If you want to include beauties such as Heidi Klum, you'll have to have a big number of polygons. And believe me guys, polygons have never been this beautiful. The girls almost look too convincing, if you know what I mean. But remember one thing, you sick #%$* they're still polygons you're looking at! Everything or Nothing does a great job holding the framerate on a decent level, especially considering all the shown action. The game was, like almost all multiplatformgames, developed on a PS2 and therefor doesn't push the big black box's powers to the limit. It looks great, nonetheless, but we can do better guys. The sound is also really convincing and the titlesong is from Mya, who has also a little role in the game.

Like every EA title, there's a lot to unlock. After completing a mission, you'll get a medal, ranging from bronze to gold (platinum if played on 00 agent). If you manage to get gold, you'll be rewarded with some artwork or a new upgrade for a gadget. If you finish a mission in 00 agent mode you'll get an extra objective, completing this will result in another reward. You get the picture, after 219 minutes it's not really over, but I'm not a big fan of replay value, once it's done, it's DONE!

Everything or Nothing is best compared with a trip to an amusementpark. You'll feel like a eight year old in Six Flags. You arrive pretty late and go home early, but you've been in the coolest rides, you go home feeling satisfied. Some might go back to try the other rollercoasters, but if it's worth the money and the long ride?

PRO

    - Lots of gadgets
    - Great diversity in levels

CON

    - Too short
