Before I begin my review I have to warn every gamer for this really bad game. This game is not worth your money. But lets put some pros and especially contras forward anyway.
What Miday wanted to attain with this game is a mystery to me. It has no use to once again release old games. It might be fun to play once more a classic which you were addicted to as a child, but with the large offering of new PSP games this is completely superfluous.
Midway Arcade Treasures offers a selection of 21 ‘best of’ games. The 21 classics you can enjoy are Klax, Joust, Marble Madness, Toobin’, Rampage, Gauntlet, Rampart, Wizard of Wor, Xybots, Championship Sprint, Arch Rivals, Cyberball 2072, Xenophobe, Spy Hunter, Sinistar, Defender, 720°, Paperboy, Mortal Kombat 1, Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 3.
These games start to bore after a few hours, some of them even after a few minutes. The classics lack their former charms. They have completely lost their attractiveness, not counting a few exceptions to that rule.
Qua controls, sound and graphics this game scores equally bad. The controls aren't flexible and react too early or too late most of the time. The sound is of equally bad quality. During a short game of Mortal Kombat 3 the noise coming from a hit usually came too late and at some moments we didn't hear anything even. This can also be said about the soundtrack and despite the fact that we're talking about old games, some upgrading of the graphics wouldn't have hurt.
This game is very bad. I can write little about it except that you can just as well throw away your money when you buy this title. It's a total flop, where the charm and atmosphere of these classic gets totally lost. There aren't any extras or additions to be seen either and it would be handy if retailers would just take this title out of the shelves to make place for better PSP-games.
