Charles Darwin already knew it in the 19th century: only the strongest can survive. “EA BIG” has taken over this principle and develops games where you grow out to be a unique legend. By learning different skills, you will soon be unstoppable. You learn these skills by playing a competition or performing a mission. By the end of the game you will be the hero in your sport, the grandmaster of American Football. “Survival of the fittest” in its purest form.

To achieve this status, you will have to sweat and train a lot. NFL Challenge (the most important mode in the game) helps you out in the streets of the USA. Here you can win skills to improve your team and your individual team-mates. You can also choose for Quick Game or Pick-up game, where you can hit the streets with the legends of the game. Looks to be a little game, you think? Think again because NFL Challenge delivers hours of game play.

The games under the ‘EA BIG’ label aren’t only noticed by their smooth graphics and sublime soundtrack (only if you like R&B though), they are also very easy to learn. Inexperienced gamers could easily pick up NBA Street to shoot some balls. NFL Street is a bit different though as this game isn’t a relaxed fighting game with an oval ball. You could compare it with a light version of Madden where you can still choose from many tactics, but which won’t seem to work at all. That’s the feeling one will have when playing NFL Street for the first time. If you practise a little bit more, those flashy movements will come, and then you will be victorious in every way.

All “Big” games share the option to turn you into an ultimate version of yourself and NFL Street isn’t an exception on this well-known rule. When you’ve got enough points, you can activate “The Gamebreaker”. You will turn in some sort of Incredible Hulk and will be practically unstoppable. Funny, but haven’t we all seen this somewhere before? Yes indeed, and it’s about time EA changed something about this concept. In a while, there won’t be a sport left without an “EA BIG” approach. If we are to build every house with the same stones and the same plan, won’t this neighbourhood be awfully boring? I’d rather live in a pink house with a yellow drive and palmtrees in the back.

NFL Street takes place in the most unusual places. For instance, you can prove your skills as a quarterback on the street (you didn’t see that one coming, did you?), the beach or the lonely slums of a big city. You can’t speak bad about the graphics or the excellent sound in the game. The animations of the game are, to say the least, very amusing. It’s always funny to see a guy with overweight dancing after scoring a touchdown. It gets totally hilarious when our beloved players become abusive and start throwing insults at each other or the other teams.

NFL Street won’t be appreciated by everyone, and I can understand it. The sport isn’t very popular in Europe, but our American visitors will be very happy with NFL Street. Gamers who think Madden is a little bit too difficult can try this light version from EA. You must realise though, that NFL Street isn’t easy and it involves a lot of strategy. The title is deceptive and gamers who are unaware think they're buying a game which is easy to pick up.
If you're not scared of some training, you'll be getting yourself a game with a lot of capacity with this title.
