Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness makes use of the same formula as predecessors Blue and Red Rescue Team, but is the game equally good? Let's find out!
Just like in the previous episodes the game starts with answering a couple of questions. Depending on that you get a Pokemon assigned that best fits your personality which in my case was Chimchar, the monkey-pokemon.The storyline starts with you waking up in the world of the Pokemon with amnesia. Quickly you get a partner assigned - in my case Bulbasaur - who helps you on your quest. Without too many problems we hooked up with the guild of Wigglytuff who taught us to become true adventurers. The further in the story, the more you find out why you've changed into a Pokemon.
You discover that, just like in our world, there are good and bad Pokemon and the latter go from simply petty thieves to true little criminals.
The game is always about the same thing and therefore quickly bores. You take on an assignment, go into a dungeon and complete your mission. You go for a new task, again enter a dungeon, and so on. The only fun part is that no dungeon is the same as they're randomly made.
Another disadvantage are the different dialogues between the characters which remind more of gossip than of Pokemon. A possibility to skip these is sadly enough not present.
Since there's only one game file, you can only choose between continue and new game. It's playing with different people on one account or not.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness couldn't really interest me as it reminds of a cope of the previous Mystery Dungeon. Bad dialogues that get varied with easy dungeons.
