Rabbits are cute animals. They're cuddly, sweet and little. Who doesn't like rabbits. The are tasty. A nice stew with fresh potatoes and and a good sauce. Are you Crazy? Rabbits are way to cute to have for dinner. I mean, they play in cartoons such as Bambi. You just don't stick those cartoon rabbits a big greasy bowl with butter. Ubisoft understands this and gives all the rabbits in the world a brand new game.
Rabbits are, let's face it, a little whack. Ubisoft knows this from genius predecessors such as Monthy Python. The genius British comedians knew how to capture the humorous talent of fuzzy little rabbits in Monthy Python and the Holy Grail. I'm sure the people of Ubisoft took good notice of them. Rayman Raving Rabbids is without a doubt one of the funniest games I played in years. Those crazy rabbits are immortal characters. We haven't seen the last of them, that's for sure. Simple and effective: two key word to describe the genius about these folks. I could talk about it for hours.
Humour: another keyword of Rayman Raving Rabbids. The kind of irrelevant nonsense you can only invent with a humongous joint. You start wondering what kind of acid the folk of Ubisoft were on. As you might already know, the game exists of various mini games. Our hero has been kidnapped by some strange looking rabbits. Now he has to fight for freedom in an arena of madness. You could compare some mini games with Wario Ware, while other are real original and completely hilarious ideas. I really liked that weird kind of comedy.
Some examples:
To milk cows: milk those honeys as fast as possible
To throw a cow: throw the same cows as far as possible
To collect pigs: collect pigs on a giant bird
To shave sheep: shave the sheep but don't cut the bunnies.
To hit rabbits: hit a rabbit on the head: do it extra painfully off course.
To sing with rabbits: the rabbits are singing out of tune. Hit them to get them straight.
These are only some of the more “normal” games. To get a taste of the more bizar games, try playing the game yourself.

Per arena you get some sort of boss mission. This could be a shooter on rails, but also various pig races. The shooters on rails are very well made. They are almost as exiting as a real shooter, sometimes even better. Who cares if you can't move yourself. It's just to bad Ubisoft choses to upgrade the difficulty of earlier mini games, instead of creating new games. Maybe something for the second Raving Rabbids?
The game is divided into 'Story' and 'Score'. You already know what's the meaning of those games. In story you must find a way to escape from the bunnies. Score gives you the opportunity to get higher points to acces hilarious videos and new challenges.
Rayman Raving Rabbids is also for Nintendo Wii. Naturally, because of the enhanced controls, this version got more attention than the PS2 version. That's reasonable, but it's safe to say the PS2 version is a great game on it's own. I just think the Wii version might even be slightly better.
Play a game that combines crazy, hilarious moments with some nice gameplay. Just play Rayman Raving Rabbids. Ubisoft reinvents Rayman. It's quite simple really: Raving Rabbids is the most fun, pleasant and cosy game since Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot. Ideal for Christmas holiday. Even more so for parties with friends or family. To be on acid or not to be on acid.
