You know how the story goes, an ordinary man one day finds an oil source and becomes filthy rich. Of course he has no offspring and so his family impatiently awaits his death. When he finally does die, his will seems to be gone missing.
Luckily there’s a clue, the man we’re talking about loved collecting and making safes and because of that chances are his will is inside one of them. To find it, you, being a professional safecracker are hired. In the nice villa of the rich man you puzzle your way through a series of safes.
This game is a classic point and click adventure, viewed from the first person. Walking around in the villa, while solving riddles, will eventually unlock more rooms. In every room there’s about one or two puzzles, which makes a total of twenty to thirty puzzles to solve.
Solving one gives you a clue or an object to help you complete another one. There are always one or two riddles which don’t require an extra object, so when stuck with one, there’s always another one to continue. If it takes long to solve it, you’ll get a hint.
Eventually a series of keys is collected which allow you to reach the will. Throughout the house there are also a couple of letters, cards and fragments of a diary, which can help to make the right decision in the end. When finished, the will can be printed, like a diploma in childern’s games.
The puzzles do require some thinking, but it’s not possible to adjust the level, so real veterans might be disappointed or the starters can be discouraged. All in all the game is actually rather short.
Although the images aren’t that bad, a few things just aren’t there, like reflections. We’re used to more. The music and voice acting aren’t to be considered bad, but they don’t stand out either. On top of that it all becomes a little one-sided after a while.
Made for the fans, but even they won’t consider it more than an in-between. You better look a little further before spending your well-earned money.
