Codemasters wants to bring back the good old days with Sensible Soccer 2006, but fails.

Next to the attempt to bring back old-skool arcade style Sensible Soccer 2006 doesn't offer anything extra or innovating in comparision to other games. It even offers less than a modern soccer game, 'cause licences for instance are absent.

The controls might be simple, but this also means that special actions -like effects- aren't possible. This really is too bad.

This game might be fun for absolute noobs in the genre, those who already played any soccer game, will quickly want something else. On top of that there are numerous games like that on the internet, and those are free.

The images are somewhat special. They're meant to create a cartoony look, but the whole is just more than wanted. The field for instance seems to be just a green background.

The sound isn't any better. The only thing that comes near sound is the music that's audible in the menus. During the match the public doesn't seem to be interested, because you keep on hearing the same sound, even when there are goals or some beautiful actions.

My advise: stay away from this game and rather play PES or Fifa. Why not an ordinary match in the garden?

CON

  • Sound? Where?
  • No licences
  • Cartoony look and atmosphere doesn't come out good
