Before writing a ton of paragraphics about what hasn't changed, I can't hurt to check out the most important new features in this PS2 version. Both the single- and multiplayer have a couple of new game modes, next to the classics, and the Time Travel Campaign from the previous version got the boot to make place for a World Tour where you can take on the biggest names in the business with a self-created character.

Other new modes are Elimination, Battle Golf, Bloodsome and One-Ball. Especially the last one is fun; you and your opponent play with the same ball and the idea is that your adversary gets forced to put the ball in a place that's good for you so that he can't make the winning put.

The options to make your character resemble yourself as much (or little) as possible seem to have expanded again and at times this game looks more like Plastic Surgeon Center 2, but is fun and a more pleasant waste of time than Open Season. But that's my personal meaning of course and in no way reflects that of Fragland, its mother company, shareholder or any other employees (Roman and Ubisoft are in quite a disagreement ever since the release of Open Season - ed.).

Graphically the game is part of the top titles on PS2; everything looks just that tiny little better again, the hairs are a bit fuller, the facial expression that bit more realistic, the polo shirts waving in the wind a bit more and of course the grass is a lot greener. Or is it a placebo-effect because there's a 7 now at the end of the title? Still, it's a bit sad that the loungy atmosphere of Tiger Woods 06 got replaced with a more flashing interface and a less jazzy - but still very strong - soundtrack.

The new game modes are mostly about multiplayer although you can also play them against the PS2 AI. Prepare for a serious "get your ass kicked" experience when playing against the AI as the CPU is clearly too good in certain modes when put place the sliders all to the other side. Indeed, in this edition you can completely determine the difficulty degree of the AI yourself but just like in previous versions the idea is foremost that you play with two or more people.

Both the normal and online multiplayer are smooth and you can prepare yourself to play 21 golf courts, some real and some fictional, and have a ball. Hitting this ball is roughly done the same way as in the previous versions but you do have more choices on the way you want to put; with help of your caddy or with '06 rasters of arrows going up and down.
