Lara Croft was one of the first mainstream gaming symbols in a period that games were only getting bigger. Off course, you had Mario en Sonic, but this sure was something else. The lady had breasts. Square breasts to be honest, but it was not seen many times before. It was the start of a new era.

Ten years after the original Tomb Raider we are celebrating again with Tomb Raider Anniversary. The game has a sharp eye for annoying people. Before, it was annoying because the controls were clumsy to say the least. And who could forget the immense shitload of bugs and stupid mistakes in the environment of the game? Falling through the ground, being stuck in walls or looking through them were no exception. You could get away with those mistakes ten years ago, but this is, as said, a whole new era. Luckily, those bugs are mainly gone. It's just annoying that the game could still be as tricky as ten years ago, which off course, is a good thing.

So if Tomb Raider Anniversary is Tomb Raider 1 revisited, why should you wanna go visited it again in the first place? Because it's safe to say it's a very special version of the first game. It's not hard to notice they've put a lot of effort into creating a celebrating party worthy of Miss Croft. After Tomb Raider Legend, which was a great game, the series can easily continue a couple of years.

The biggest difference are the graphics. No square tits for Lara this time, but nice fake boobs that no normal women of that proportions could ever carry in real life, but what the hell. It's her birthday, so why not take it to D or something. We can't say Anniversary is has out of this world graphics, but it does the trick well.

The engine is the same as in Legend and you can notice it when playing with the same attributes. The grapple hook is back in business and that's refreshing for the levels. Expect new puzzles in this game for sure! It's possible to run against walls with your rope. The levels are adapted for the year 2007 and that's nice to see.

Too bad the camera isn't always so great. It's too close, which creates a lack of view sometimes, especially when the situations become hectic. The way Lara swims is also a bit confusing, leaving you drowning in a pool for many, many times. It's annoying, but just annoying enough to keep you going for the next level. The story is pretty lame, so you will not keep playing for that factor.

A must buy for people who adore Lara Croft and a great game for people who have not yet played Tomb Raider 1.
