Fragland 2006 GOTY Awards
We've brought you our User GOTY Awards some time ago and with January 2007 ending pretty soon it's about time we let you know which games we found to be the best of the best last year. 2006 that is ;)
Anyway, here goes:
It seems our community and our crew are completely on the same line when it comes to telling which were the best PC games of 2006 as Company of Heroes easily got a majority of the votes within our crew while the runners-up also resemble a lot those mentioned in the User GOTY Awards.
Runners-up: The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Medieval 2: Total War and Half-Life 2: Episode 1
On Xbox360 there was quite a lot more discussion necessary but the end votes were clear: Gears of War wins with GRAW and Double Agent closely on its heels
Runners-up: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Although the Wii launched last year, there weren't that many titles that really stood out. Wii Sports of course made a nice change but that wasn't enough to get our GOTY award as also our crew decided that Zelda: Twilight Princess should get that honor.
Runner-up: Trauma Center: Second Opinion
Xbox had a weak year when it comes to top games and that also reflects in our selection for the GOTY Awards as well as the difference between our crew choice and the user choice. Our winner got to be Lego Star Wars 2 with Fight Night Round 3 and Pro Evolution Soccer 5 closely on its heels.
Runners-up: Fight Night Round 3 and Pro Evolution Soccer 5
Our community voted two games as winner in the PS2 category but our crew decided that Shadow of the Colossus was a bit better than Guitar Hero 2
Runner-up: Guitar Hero 2
The PSP is actually the one platform where our community and our crew don't completely seem to agree. While our User GOTY went to Daxter, our crew found that Loco Roco was more entitled to the award.
Runners-up: Daxter, Tekken: Dark Resurrection
While our crew didn't completely agree with our community on the PSP, they do so when it comes to DS games. With a large distance to number two, New Super Mario Bros got our vote of GOTY on the DS.
Runners-up: Trauma Center: Under the Knife and Animal Crossing
That's it for our GOTY awards of 2006. Personally I found 2006 not to be such a great year for gaming as the previous ones so let's hope 2007 brings us more greatness.
