BLU: Storage 24
Take a couple of people, put them in a confined space together with a vicious alien and you’ve got all that’s necessary for a splendid movie. That’s probably what went around in the head of the creators of Storage 24, the latest alien horror flick that’s arrived on Blu-ray.
Charlie and Shelly have recently broken up and are at Storage 24 with some of their friends to divide their belongings. They’re having quite an argument amongst themselves when the power shuts down and the security protocol kicks in. As a result, the gate closes and they along with everyone else in the facility get locked in. What they don’t know, however, is that a military airplane crashed over London and its cargo, a vicious alien, fell into the storage building.
Locked up with a deadly creature, they must pull together if they want to survive…
When reading the above synopsis you’re probably thinking this is yet another straightforward horror flick where the majority of humans get killed and the fun is in the scare moments along with the gore. And you would be right about that. The story is as simple and cliché as it can be, deaths fall whenever you expect them, and Storage 24 never manages to surprise in any way.
The acting is so-so, the action predictable and the makers follow the standard paths for this type of movies as if they were reading a guide when shooting the film. All in all, simple and easily digestable sci-fi horror that’s fun for a Friday evening but nothing more.
Image and sound are decent without being extraordinary. The good (and strange) thing about this release is that there’s more extra’s present than we see on some of the bigger releases from Universal. Audio commentary track, Behind the Scenes, deleted scenes, video blogs from the cast, interviews, a create development feature, … if one rate on the amount of extra’s, one would almost think this is a blockbuster movie finally arriving on Blu-ray!
