THQ gets a new boss for production

THQ has announced that Relic co-founder Ron Moravek has decided to join their rank as Executive Vice President of Production.

After selling the studio to THQ, Moravek went to EA Canada where he became VP and COO to then move on to co-found two software companies. Afterwards he became senior advisor to NuCaptcha, a cloud-based internet security platform, where he was responsible for developing the go-to-market and business growth strategy for their enterprise platform.

With THQ having gone through some rough times, CEO Jason Rubin has decided to bring the man back to his gaming roots to get the company to “embrace new strategic business models, digitally connected experiences, and a more focused, high-quality game slate”.

Here’s what Moravek himself had to say about his latest career change:

“I am thrilled to be re-joining THQ and to be working with Jason and the development teams around the world to deliver high-quality games and digitally connected experiences,”

“There are many exciting changes affecting the videogame industry today, and I look forward to building new games and experiences with Jason and the team at THQ.”

Former Relic and EA dude coming back to THQ? Might be a good thing for the publisher!
