Tucker & Dale vs Evil
Tucker & Dale are two hilbillies who are out on vacation to the summer cabin Dale just bought in the middle of the woods. Their plan: drink beer, fix the cabin, and relax while fishing. This plan, however, gets disturbed when they meet a couple of kids who head to the same woods for Spring Break. The kids think Tucker & Dale are two messed up serial killers and when one of them (Allison) gets rescued by the two after she hit her head falling off a rock, the college boys and girls are convinced they’ll kill her. What should have been a relaxing holiday, quickly turns into a bloody massacre…
Sound and Vision:
Tucker & Dale is a low budget horror comedy but the image and sound are pretty decent. There isn’t anything to really complain about when it comes to technicalities and although the movie won’t win any prizes things do look good.
The sound is simple and straightforward, with some nice placements here and there, and clear dialogues. Again, nothing special but it does the job well.
Tucker & Dale vs Evil is a simple straightforward horror comedy that gives a nice twist to the slasher genre. There’s two hilbillies who mistakenly get seen as serial killers by a bunch of college kids and instead of sorting things out, their fear gets them killed. An interesting concept that works up to a certain level, but unfortunately not all the way. There’s a couple of scenes that will definitely put a smile on your face, but overall the movie doesn’t manage to keep up the level of quality you need to make a comedy like this work.
A couple of good jokes make this one a recommendation for rental, but there’s just not enough to make us give it the go for purchase
