Wraith, The

Nick Cassavetes is Packard, leader of a gang of thugs who race against innocent bypassers and take their car. Everyone in town fears the psychopatic Packard except for Jake, a new guy who only recently came into town and who immediately becomes friends with Packard’s girlfriend Keri. When Packard’s gang members start to die in gruesome accidents while racing a mysterious black sports car, it becomes clear that the past is catching up with Packard and his people and that you can’t get away with murder without punishment.

Sound and Vision:
For a movie from 1986, The Wraith has decent image quality although not superb. Grain is present in several scenes and the colors look outdated. Still, things could have been worse.

The soundtrack, although Dolby Digital 2.0, is quite good. Dialogues are clear and understandable and hardly get surpressed by sound of explosions or anything like that. Still too bad we didn’t get a 5.1 track.

Conclusion:
The Wraith is a movie I saw for the first time years ago when it was released on video. Now that it’s come on DVD, it was nice to see it again. Unfortunately, the movie looks a bit outdated, but still it’s quite entertaining. If you’ve got a couple of bucks and time to spare you might want to check this one out, if only to see stars like Sherilyn Fenn and Charlie Sheen in their youth 🙂

Our Score:
5.0
