Yes Men Fix the World, The
Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno are at it again. After their first “Yes Men” movie back in 2003, things haven’t changed much. The corporate world is still ruling high and even the economical crisis can’t keep companies from making huge profits at the back of the person in the street.
So they decide to “fix the world” by showing people how money can be made on natural disasters as Hurricane Catrina, how companies could “do the right thing” by impersonating representatives from Dow Chemicals or make things extremely ridiculous like the “Halliburton Survival Ball”…
Sound and Vision:
This is a documentary where we follow a couple of Yes Men who film themselves while doing a number of major stunts on companies and travelling throughout the world to see what the response is on their stunts from the people involved. Things therefore don’t look polished and shiny but extremely natural and at times even a bit grainy and lacking of detail. But hey, this isn’t a nature documentary so what do you expect?

Conclusion:
The Yes Men Fix the World is again a great documentary where Mike Bonanno and Andy Bichlbaum show just how ridiculous our economic system ruled by heartless mega-corporations actually is. They get applauded by industrialists for the most outrageous ideas and “serious” journalists are outraged if they do a stunt that involves fooling the world into thinking Dow Chemical will finally pay up for the disaster in Bopal, India.
The Yes Men can’t fix the world but what they do manage to do is show just how insane the people at the head of corporations are and how governments are following these idiots like lemmings while in fact they should be putting them on a leash.
I for one hope we’ll get to see more of the Yes Men and that one day they’ll REALLY be able to fix the world. Until then, I strongly suggest to check out this DVD.
